Rival is looking for a Consultant to join our Boston-based integrated consulting team.
As a Consultant, you will play a key role in managing, delivering, and growing key integrated and creative accounts in the US and globally. You will work closely with our Principal who oversees our integrated and creative accounts out of Boston, supporting the day-to-day account, project, and commercial management of accounts. You will also play an important role in helping us evolve our integrated delivery operations at a key stage in our growth.
Role
- Consultants are the day-to-day account and project leads, working with clients and cross-functional teams to achieve our clients’ outcomes and objectives.
- Responsible for managing mutually beneficial client relationships, empathy-driven team dynamics, healthy account financials, efficient schedules, and flawless final delivery of the project.
- Collaborate closely with creative and production teams, offering client and business insight and creative problem solving to support conceptual development through creative production.
- While we do integrated work (i.e. both strategy and execution) we do not have a typical agency structure with account managers or project managers
- Think strategically about how to grow our clients’ business and the impact of our work on their business and ours.
- Lead and support the day-to-day internal and external communications, meetings, operations, and deliverables for a set of creative and integrated accounts, maximizing efficiency for our team and impact for our clients.
- You will likely be the day-to-day project lead on some smaller accounts and support our Principal on larger accounts
- Own the delivery of the work from our integrated team (strategy, creative, and paid media), ensuring it’s executed on time, on budget, and meets (and exceeds) our clients’ expectations.
- Support new business development efforts (pitch materials, meetings, schedules, and resourcing)
- Over time you still start to manage more and larger accounts, and eventually more Consultants or Associates underneath you
- This is a role with a ton of growth opportunity in front of it as our business expands into larger accounts and projects- we want someone who can come in, have an impact quickly, and grow with us over the long-term
Opportunity
- You will be joining the Rival at an exciting time - we are three years in, growing quickly, and have big plans for the future!
- We have a global client portfolio - you’ll get a truly global perspective and be exposed to brands and projects in North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
- We are a small (but mighty!) team of 30, so you’ll have the opportunity to learn and work on a wide variety of projects - strategy, paid media, creative, data/martech, and our own product development
- This role holds a ton of potential for the right person, as you’ll be working closely with the founding team shaping the future of our business
Requirements
We'd like to hear from you if…
- We do not require a minimum years of experience, but you do need to have experience in a marketing consultancy or advertising agency role in an account management or project management capacity
- Strong organizational skills along with the demonstrated ability to work to a deadline
- A start up mentality and personality: you're mission driven, action oriented, and not afraid roll up your sleeves to get the work done
- Willingness to travel for client engagements as needed and for company retreats once a year
- No university degree required - we value your experience and skills
We would be particularly excited if...
- You have a strong point of view on what great marketing looks like and how modern, challenger brands should behave
- Experience working with multiple marketing disciplines: creative, strategy, paid media, analytics, etc
Compensation
- Our compensation philosophy is to “mid-market base, top-market upside”. As a start-up we can’t compete with big agency/consultancy salaries, but we offer everyone the opportunity to share in the upside of what we’re building together.
- There are three components to our compensation package
- Base Salary - market average for marketing consultancy/agency
- Profit Share - eligibility for a profit share distribution twice a year (after one year of employment) based on company and individual performance
- Employee Liquidity Plan - eligibility for our “shadow stock” plan (after one year of employment)
Benefits
- Health and Dental are covered 50% for Rival employees
- 401K Plan
- 100% of Elective Deferral Contributions which are not over 3% of pay plus 50% of Elective Deferral Contributions which are over 3% but are not over 5% of Pay
- Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) Program for MA employees
- 29-days vacation days for US employees + public holidays
- 22 discretionary vacation days
- 7 company ‘recharge days’ during the year - these are mandatory days that everyone takes off to relax and focus on family, friends and ourselves.
- 11 public holidays
- Profit Share and Rival Employee Liquidity Plan (ELP)
- ELP aka “shadow stock” has all the financial benefits of options, but without the cost to exercise and tax implications
- Office-first but flexible working environment
- Our default policy is for everyone to be in the office three days per week (currently Mon/Tues/Wed). We believe in and have seen the impact of in-person collaboration on our work, culture, and development. However, we hire grown ups and trust people to manage their time and schedule. We understand there will be exceptions to the default rule, as long as we’re all focused on what’s best for the team.
- The equipment and technology you need to be successful, plus additional support if you need to enhance your work from home set-up
- Quarterly ‘Team Weeks’
- One week a quarter we focus on planning, team building, and professional development. This can involve the opportunity to travel to other offices.
- Rival Retreats
- Every once in a while we’ll turn a Team Week into a Rival Retreat, which is a full-company, all-expense paid trip to spend a week together in a fun location
- Various surprise and delights & Rival events throughout the year.
