Rival is looking for a Principal to join our Cape Town-based team and oversee our Data/Martech portfolio.

As a Principal for our Data/Martech practice, you will play a lead role in development and delivery of client engagements for CDP and marketing automation assessments, strategy, and implementation. You will serve as the primary point of contact between our team and our Data/Martech clients, both in South Africa and globally, as well as working with our leadership team on developing new offerings and partnerships in this space. 

Role
  • Our Principals are the most senior client and project leads in our business, working closely with our Managing Partners on developing and delivering our strategic and executional engagements 
  • This role will lead our Data/Martech practice globally, including our key client in South Africa 
  • You will spend most of your time managing key projects around CDP implementation and wider customer data / martech assessment and roadmapping
  • You will be the day-to-day project lead on our key client in South Africa, working with our London-based Managing Partner and our Cape Town-based data engineer
  • You will own and oversee the output from our team, the relationship with the client, and the commercial health of the account
  • You will also support new business development, partnerships with martech platforms, and new proposition development in this space 
  • Over time you still start to manage a small team of Consultants and additional Engineers for further global Data/Martech work

  • We are a small (but mighty!) team of about 20, so you’ll have the opportunity to learn and work on a wide variety of projects and our own product development  
  • This role holds a ton of potential for the right person, as you’ll be working closely with the leadership team shaping the future of our business
Requirements 

We'd like to hear from you if…

  • We do not require a minimum years of experience, but you do need to have significant experience running client projects for the strategy and implementation of customer data and wider marketing automation in a services business (i.e. agency, consultancy)
  • Expertise in and a strong point of view on customer data strategy, platforms, and trends
  • Experience working with data engineering teams
  • Strong organizational skills along with the demonstrated ability to work to a deadline
  • A start up mentality and personality: you're mission driven and not afraid to get stuck in
  • Willingness to travel for client engagements as needed and for company retreats once a year 
  • No university degree required - we value your experience and skills

We would be particularly excited if... 

  • You have experience in an early stage start-up and/or a marketing agency/consultancy
  • You have experience with mParticle and/or Braze
Compensation
  • Our compensation philosophy is to “mid-market base, top-market upside”. As a start-up we can’t compete with big agency/consultancy salaries, but we offer everyone the opportunity to share in the upside of what we’re building together. 
  • There are three components to our compensation package
    • Base Salary - market average for marketing consultancy/agency
    • Profit Share - eligibility for a profit share distribution twice a year (after one year of employment) based on company and individual performance
    • Employee Liquidity Plan -  eligibility for our “shadow stock” plan (after one year of employment)
